I just picked up a 1998 not running....2 questions
1-- I know after years of not running I will have a carb problem...I was thinking about a aftermarket new carb....or how do I clean the carb
2-- do these cdi increase power

If its stock just derestrict it, all the hi-po stuff is for the serious builders, before i change a cdi i change the coil-MSD street blaster

after market carbs are fun but cost around 160$ and unless you plain on putting on a bore kit its rather useless.
the CDI box on hondas are unrestricted. those ebay boxes are a scam. Unless you have really high powered coil.
derestrict itonce you get it running, your top speed and take off will be way different along with your over all power.

Clean the fuel tank real good before you try to start the engine, bacteria lives in fuel, use a flashlight and you will see it floating, i use a turkey baster to suck it up.

actually those cdi boxes are not scams.. they do increase your rev, but advances the timing a little bit. Which makes your bike run hotter. I have a friend who makes those in taiwan..

For a stock engine it will do nothing and never buy a taiwan coil as they are worthless! factory coils put out more voltage
