Spree air filter? Can I amke my own?

Can I make a apre air filter by moding another similar filter off the shelf or do i have to use am oem fit one? I have made these before by finding something close and cutting it too fit for a lot cheaper too!
Advice, what ahve you guys done>?

Yes i did it and it looks and works GREAT. i took the airbox off completely. turned the inlet pipe so it faced down and took a Craftsman airfilter (the oval type) covered it 3/4 with masking tape (gets the restriction that it needs) put the plastic cover over it zipcorded it so it would stay on and it looks and works great. i will post some pics if you want to see what im talking about

thanks, let me see those pics of your set up, sounds neat, i am really wanting to leave the factory airbox on, this bikes all origional a true needle in a haystack, and i have two! I want to keep it oem as possible but thought i could go to local bike shop and get a generic filter and cut it too fit, any other ideas?

A Honda filter is only a few dollars.

yah you may not want to do what i did. looks cool but i regret it cuz these parts are not being made anymore. but heck it is cool looking
