1963 Honda Scooter

Bought a 1963 Honda 50cc scooter, it is in good shape and running, orange and tan in color, just need to replace the dry rotted tires. Not sure where to get a manual or what the thing is actually worth, anybody got any info?

I've got a few C102's (1960's Honda 50cc Cubs,) might be the same line of bike. If so check your serial number next to the engine and search yahoo groups. There are several groups dedicated to these bikes and will let you know all you need...they have manuals in their file selection.

I just found out it is a C50 model. Orange and White, typical for that series.

Might be worth a lot might be worth nothing, I will assume a lot, probably over $1000 to the right person. Check ebay.

Ok well thanks, I did some research, it is actually a 1961 Model C102. I see there are Thai based and other companies on Ebay to obtain replacement parts...the bike is essentially in super shape for its age, with the requisite minor chrome pitting here and there, and typical minor aluminum engine case corrosion. Looks like it would be a good candidate for a rework, but have enough projects. Amazing, the old ads indicate 125 miles per gallon. Will have to confirm that one!

Wikepedia says there is an upated version still being produced - 50 years and 60million Cubs later!

Also, they give a gas milage figure for the 50cc model --
146 km/L (410 mpg imp/340 mpg US) (30km/h fixed area travelling test value)

Like I said, I have a 63 and a 65 C102. Restored they are worth about $600-800 tops, depends on the person looking. I just sold my '68 CM91, (much more rare) and restored for $800. They are good bikes, tough as nails...but they shift sloppy and tend to be hard to find parts for. One of my bikes blew a head gasket and I've been hunting hard to match it up. Little push-rod's keep on tickin'!

You can buy these brand new in Mexico for 21,780 pesos which is about $2,200.
