Aero 80 not running past 25

I posted a thread a while ago but noone seemed to know what was wrong with it. It starts first kick, the carb is spotless, i put in a new vaccuum control valve, ignition coil and cdi. It hasnt changed one bit. It still starts first kick but just spits and pops past 20-25. Its almost like you have to find a perfect throttle to get it to keep going. It never stalls or anything but it doesnt run right. A friend of mine has another aero and it screams. There seems to be nothing wrong with my aero, 175 lbs of compression, new reed valve intake manifold and all the gaskets, ignition coild and cdi. Does anyone know anything about the ignition system if it was faulty would it still run? It just seems like it runs out of spark, or it cangt produce it that fast.

Thanks,
Derek

Sounds like a clogged exhaust port and or muffler from the wrong oil being used.

I checked the exaust port and its perfectly clean, and i loosened the header bolts just to see if it would run a little better without any resistance if the exaust is plugged up, but it didnt make a difference.

Do a plug chop.

I did a plug chop before it starts spitting and its that perfect tan color with a little bit of burnt oil on it, and when i shut it down after holding it wide open its a little bit darker and sometime its moist with gas or oil( i cant really tell which, most likely both)and sometimes its just a little darker and not wet at all.

Airfilter? try running with the airbox disconnected for a short trip without any dust.

I tried that and it helps a little but not much, it has a brand new air filter on it, i didnt oil it.

Sounds like its running rich, if you hold it WOT on the stand does it bog and smoke?

It spits pops and bogs and the rpms go down slowly if you keep holding it WOT. It smokes enough to where i can see the trail of smoke out of the exhaust, but not enough to smoke up the driveway or anything like that.

Try replacing the main jet.

The jets just came in from bikebandit, i got a #88 and #82 ill see if either makes a difference

I tryed both jets the 82 made it run way too lean, and the stock 88 didnt make any difference. I drained the oil tank and put in new injector oil just to eliminate that possible problem. Im starting to give up on this thing, the only thing left i know of is some kind of resistor that bolts to the frame. It gets really hot(you cant touch it for more than a second without getting burned) and im pretty sure none of the electronics are supposed to get as hot as it does. It only has one pink wire coming to it, none leaving it. I dont know if its some kind of ground or what it is, does anyone know there electronics well enough to diagnose?

Thats a drain resistor to keep the alternator from blowing the lights at high RPM.

Well i ordered a new one its cheap and if it doesnt help its no big deal. Does anyone have any other suggestions to what it could be? I know the motors good the oil is fresh the belt is good the carb is clean, the jets are new the reed valve is new, all new vaccuum lines, and vaccum control box.
