Problems starting the next day

Post by gerleman »

I am having problems starting my 86 spree the next day. I use a little ether and it will start right up and will start great all day long till the next day I got to start it and it won't start again.

The battery is dead, is there not enough juice when you kick start it to run the bystarter, will a new battery help?

What else could be the problem.

Also I need help adjusting the carb, I have used the adjustment guide on this site but still confused as to the bottome screw, the top screw is 1 1/2 turns out.

Thanks,

if you're kick starting and not using the electric start the battery doesn't help you out, so if your battery is dead it shouldn't matter.

i'm still learning so i'm not exactly sure what the problem is, but it's not the battery

Dirty carb, clogged enrichment circuit. There are 3 screws on the carb.

bottommost=drain, leave all the way in and snug
other flathead=idle/pilot mix, run where service manual says 1.5 turns is good enough
spring exposed phillips=throttle stop, further yo put iti n the further the throttle is cracked open for idle.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
