2001 Elite Speed Question

I wanted to get some more speed and get a better looking muffler since mine is all rusty now. I had planned on getting a new muffler and removing the restrictor and was going to be done with it. VT called me back saying they didnt actually have the muffler I had ordered that was for a stock engine and they didnt have any more that would fit a stock engine and my only option was to get a bore kit and a larger muffler. So I guess I wanna get a PG long since they look good. So my question is what else do i *need* to get. I was thinking about getting the oko variator but I wasnt sure if i could live with the stock one with the larger engine? Do I need a larger carbeurator? Would getting a new gear ratio be essential? I have searched for these but would like to keep it all in one thread so I could just reference that when making my decision. thanks in advance

yeah dude, with a bore kit you need a 28mm carb. + intake. Better air filter. and most important, Gears!
with out gears your bike will be slow. Crazy take off but will top off at like 35 of so. So get gears.
So you are looking at, Bore kit, carb kit, pg long, GEARS, and other tuning parts such as a diff. spark plug, diff. rollers, maybe a 10% spring in the clutch.
Fare warning, this could end up costing you a good amount of money (500+) I highly recommend getting all your stuff from the guys at VT. They are very cool people, and they will make sure you get the stuff you need.

so i would def need all those things if I wanted to have a decent looking muffler on it? I mean not that spending 500 on it would be a terrible investment but I was just curious as if everything was completely necessary.

listen, i ran a bore kit with a stock carb and pipe. Its not that good. Talking from a tuning prospective, running a pipe with better flow and a stock carb that is limited does not make since. You would really be pushing the luck of that motor. It would be a mess.
So i mean, it could be done. But do you want a nice bike that is going to last and have all the speed you need? or do you just want a tail pipe at any cost?
do you get what im saying?
{ if you are confused im saying Yes, its all needed for a nice bike)

Ive decided to wait on the kit and just de restrict for the moment. I think I am just going to order a aftermarket variator off ebay. Do I need any special tools besides a impact wrench to get everything off? clutch puller? etc? if so where would I purchase one.

hey i happen to have a couple or R1 pipes that i think would be ok on a stocker but you would need to rejet. both are used i will sell ya one for half price.. has 600 miles on it. looks good, jjust not quite as black as it was new as it worms up severla times it fads the color but it gives it class.. anyway or even a big bore kit it ya didn't go to a big carb. anyway just a thought.

Check the for sale section
I have the 28mm carb and intake set that were on my scooter for a couple hours tops. Same setup previous poster recommended.
