First a shout to the posters on this board: thanks for all the good stuff here.

So, I picked up an 84 aero a few months ago and I've finally gotten around to fixing it up. It should be noted that I have no idea what I'm doing.
The previous owner bought it for his son, who never rode it because CA requires a license and registration even for 50cc. When I bought it, it ran a bit rough but it ran. Now it doesn't.
I opened up the shell and found lots of cobwebs, and no air filter. I ordered a new one and went out and picked up a spark plug at auto zone. They said the ngk cross-referenced with a champion marine vehicle plug (I imagine some of you are shaking your heads). Yeah, it didn't work.
But the good news is -- I got the carb off. thx to you guys and the service manual. Of course not before letting my curiosity get the better of me and unplugging the oil line from the oil tank (so, that's where that goes!)

So, onward to carb cleaning. And buying a new plug. And disposing of tupperware bin of oil.

Yeah, that plug won't work. Order a half dozen of them online from whatever store you can find the NGK plugs from. They're only a couple of bucks each, but you cannot get them locally when you have a problem and need to swap them out. It's a very good idea to have a spare or two on hand. Honda has the air filters for about $4. I'm sure once you have the carb cleaned and the air filter in place you'll be running again.

While you're at the Honda dealer, pick up a couple of quarts of GN2 oil. That's what you should be putting in the oil tank. You'll burn a tank of oil for every 8 - 10 tanks of gas in my experience. Make sure you bleed the oil lines per the instructions in the manual and make sure that the bolt holding on the oil pump does not work itself loose (alot of Sprees have that problem apparently).

I had been wondering where to get the plugs as they seemed a bit hard to find. I saw another post suggesting the Autolite 4123, so maybe I'll try that first (autozone's a short bike ride away). If not, then it's onto bikebandit.com (that's where I ordered the air filter from).
You mentioned the GN2 oil. I picked up a bottle of Tc-w3 2stroke oil (haven't used it) -- will this oil not work?

Interwebs. Google for BPR6HS, they're all over the place. There are other plugs that will work, but I ordered a half dozen off some web store last year for about $2 each, and they're perfect.

I don't know about Tc-w3, but I would strongly suggest NOT using anything that doesn't say "two stroke" AND "injector" on the bottle. Premix is no good. Honda GN2 is prefered, but other oils specifically designed for 2 stroke injectors will work. If you try chainsaw or weed whacker oil in the injector, at best you will foul the plug in a heartbeat.

with no air filter the main jet inside the carb may be plugged.

The main jet looks good. Soaked it, cleaned it. Blew some air through all the holes, so I think it's good to go.
Unfortunately, I soaked the carb with the gaskets still on. :facepalm:

So, I think I'm gonna go to the dealer for some oil and new gaskets.
