anyone know what the difference between the 94-01 dio gear set and the 87 SE50 are? i have been looking at the diagams and they appear to be very similar, i know that they are not identical and therfore not exchangable, but could the 87 case be modified to accept the dio gear set? none of the diagrams give dimensions therfore i can't tell if it is completly different diameters/lengths/etc. my brother owns a machine shop so modifing the case would be possible.

im still tring to find out also. i called VT Cycles and asked him that question. he said hes never attempted to do that. he did mention that the gear sets are close except for the shafts on the wheel axle and the clutch axle are bigger for the sa50s. so im thinking find a set of sa50 gears and take a se50 block up to a bearing shop and have custom bearings made IF its possible.
