G'day all,
The rear carry rack and turn signals are long lost for my nifty 50. Ive bought some after market ones but are unsure how to wire them up because as far as i can tell there is only one set of wires to connect to, a light blue one and an orange one. Previously without the rear indicators both the front turn indicators light up but dont flash. Ive hooked one rear up and it also lights as does the front but wont flash. So two questions: How do i wire both rear indicators and do i need a new relay since there isnt any flashing. The relay clicks once when the turn signal is activated. Many thanks!

The OEM flasher is load sensitive. OEM Lamps are around 23 watts each. So Front + Rear should be 46 watts, approx 4 amps.

If your aftermarket lamps are much less load (IF LED most certainly) the OEM flasher will not flash. You can make the OEM work by adding load resistors in parallel with the signal lamps. Load resistors are sized such that the equvilant load = around 4amps.

I have a flasher something like the one in the link that was about the same price here in Canada it only needs on reg bulb to flash so it will run one led and one reg bulb per side. On my spree now I have an led flasher relay that is a direct replacement for the stock one came with the rubber mount too only a few $ I think it was

Thanks for all the help. The globes in the new rear indicators were only 10 watt. So i just ran another wire from each positive lead and hooked it up to two extra bulbs and earthed them. taped in up and tucked them away. Indicators now flash. Crude but it works.
