General guideline for any electronics is - mout it away from water drip/splash/dirt/heat/vibration. Stock location is pretty good.
IMHO - the fins are overkill, but if you want - place them so airflow will do it's best for cooling.

You could use a hose clamp and clamp it right where it is if it won't go in the stock location. Or maybe fab a bracket to mount it in the stock location.

IMO I would mount that back in the box and return it. The Honda OEM part will be better for you in the long run, way less chance of leaving you, pushing your way home. But if you are unable to fund the honda one, next to the battery would be a good place. I am assuming this is a spree application.

I think the difference is just in the advancement and retarding of the spark. I would stick with OEM. Honda spends plenty of time finding out how to not have predetonation.

I noticed a little difference. Maybe a bit smoother and better response in around 10mph up. Not much though. Will do further testing and post results.
As far as honda OEM, ya they may be good but were in the 21st century now, its ok to look for improvements over the past 30 years

Chinese have made no improvements in 30 years. I think they went backwards. I would send it back begging for a refund...

Astute review of China. Thank you. I'll probably send it back.

Nothing wrong with trying new stuff. I just dont believe in chinese electronics. Japan has a level of pride in their products and engineering unparalleled, by any sweat shop in China. If your spree engine is at standard compression it will probable not harm anything. Now if you had high compression and were altering the ignition timing this would be much more risky. Have fun.

Well my compression is gone right now. I have another thread going troubleshooting it
