Hi there,

i'm trying to derestrict my variator on my HONDA Elite SR 1998 but i cannot find a right tool to block the variator in order to remove the nut. I do not have an impact wrench. Maybe I can make my own tool or find something cheap at walmart?

Here is what looks like the part I want to block.

thanks for your help

I use a strap wrench.

Get one of these from sears or tru value. Do not over tighten it, a firm grip is all you need.

Somebody suggest these on here so I bought a set and they work pretty sweet. So well in fact you would think it is a specialty tool made for it lol.

Nice work Dogmir, I can afford those! But they might not work on the clutch bell very well. Or do they?

For the clutch bell I do use the strap wrench.

Also a 10 mm craftsman box wrench can be wedged into the inside of the case and placed against the geared edge of the drive face...

Greetings:

If you want a tool that self-locks and leaves both hands free to work the nut, try This Thing. You can file a notch in the "legs" of the tool to engage the teeth of the outer pulley sheave. The backside of the tool has little posts that engage the holes in the clutch bell too. Single tool fits in your glove-box for roadside emergency belt swaps.
