Next upgrade, need suggestions for SA50P

I'm back after doing a slue of upgrades to my SA50P last summer which included installing SR Oil Pump, Split Throttle Cable, Keli Variator w/ 9g weights, SEF Ramp Plate, 9.8:1 gear set (15x42), and #85 jet. I would say currently my top speed is around 43mph on level ground and I've topped out at 50mph (gps) going downhill. I had expected a little more top speed but it could just be that it's just not finely tuned.

As the topic says, I need some suggestions on what my next course of action should be. I've been crawling through threads seeing what others have done to try and give me ideas. I'm a little gun shy on wanting to jump to a BBK right now, unless someone convinces me otherwise. I do need to educate myself more about the BBK and the process involved in making the swap as well as the reliability once installed. I know that will restrict the options people suggest. Also I weigh about 150lb as well.

Objective: Reliably is always a concern of mine. Currently my bottom end is suffering which was to be expected with the gear set change. I'd like to if possible improve the acceleration (torque), as well increase top end. At the very least try and not sacrifice the acceleration anymore then necessary. Like most people I'm looking to increase my top speed again.

Budget: Lets set the initial budget to $200 or less for now.

Ideas:
swap exhaust
center spring (which rpm?)
porting (know very little on this topic currently)
new tires
what else am I missing?

Thanks

Greetings:

I agree with the Nicasil option; it's affordable and at least as durable as Honda-san's top end. (at least mine was...) However I'm certain that the Nic can't begin to use the top-end potential of 7.5s, particularly with stock carb and exhaust. Save some money and keep the 9.8s in there and maybe get an affordable exhaust instead. If you do swap gears, I'd recommend 8.4s at the tallest for that cylinder, even with all the trimmin's.

Normaly I would agree, but in this case the OP weighs 150lbs.

7.5:1 gears will be fine :imo:

Wheelman, I have your old niksal bore on 7.5's right now and it pushes me (200+lbs) to 60mph.

I just did a search on the forum as well as google and I wasn't seeing a place to procure the 78cc niksal BBK. What kind of acceleration are getting with the niksal and 7.5 gears. I was under the assumption that if you did a BBK it was recommended or highly recommended that you swap your carb as well.

I'm being lazy now but if you have any particular threads you'd recommend I read regarding doing a BBK install please let me know. I'll search the forum of course as well.

On a side note I'd love to push 60mph someday on my little demon.

Edit: Is the bore you guys are referring to the 'nikasil' not 'niksal'. Did little more Googleing and it suggested the spelling correction.

Then do it. It is not as hard as you think. 9.8:1 gears are to short to go over 50mph

Here is the link to the kit.

Or for 12 more $ you could get a cast Malossi.

Ok, so I've been doing some reading and I think the BBK is the route I would like to take. My main concern was reliability since I ride my scooter hard and don't want to have to worry if something is going to blow up considering it's my daily rider when weather permits. However, after reading more on the forum about different BBK's on the market I think the nikasil kit might be the all around best choose from my application. One thing I took away was that nikasil might output less power due to tuning or other reasons compared to other kits and it's good for the city rider. If I use the 7.5 gear set with the nikasil BBK even while riding at WOT I'd still not be pushing the BBK to it fullest potential correct? I just worry about damage to engine from over revving or high cht. I do plan on adding a tiny tach as well and need to find a cht gauge mod.

Additional questions:
To complete the 78cc nikasil BBK install in addition to the 7.5 gear swap what else might I need to acquire? What size main jet are people using? Will the stock carb and pilot jet work with this set-up? What other upgrades might be suggest I make at the same time as the BBK is installed? Trying to pin down the budget on this round of upgrades considering it's going to exceed my initial budget of $200. Might have to wait a little bit on these upgrades but once I know what I need/want it's only matter of time.

thanks
