Thank you for the warm welcome.
Well the 87 needs anew piston and rings. Debating on stock or BBK. Spree crankcase was flooded with oil.
Cleaning everything up,ordered a few parts.bought some new tools and ready for some fun.
It's funny in Vegas everyone sells china bikes and parts. They are quick to say they don't carry and ask to buy your bike lol.
I'm not to into the whole dirt bike, quad thing.Don't get me wrong I love to ride but to ea their own. I was brought up in Hawaii and played with "mopeds" scooters.
I know pineapplegti will debate me on this. But in Hawaii "our" definition of a moped is 50cc and lower and a scooter is a bigger then 50cc or a motorbike. That is how the law classified it, in Hawaii at least anyway....
Where are all the riders in Vegas and Hawaii at? What ever happened to xtreme scooter worx and Happy? I heard lots of terrible stories of what might of happened. I don't believe any of them.
Or Sam Martin?

Picked up a 96dio today.
Post pics later...
Need to get a CHT thermocouple and new set of weights
My question I have just picked up another scoot the bike was built in Hawaii for another rider. What steps should I take to retune it for my weight and the desert? I'm guessing a water-cooled bike is in the future if I wanna ride in the desert ...during 120 summers

congrats on your new ride! :2thumbs:
yet another one to add to your stable?! dude, i'm jealous! :x j/k
:imo: if your setup is tuned properly, you really don't need to be watercooled, even for the desert.
but then I've never really been in a hot desert with my moped
(but hey I'm sure they've got some 2stroke dirt bikes there that's not running H20) :thumbwink:

do you have more info on the 'built' motor? specifications?

tune it towards your riding style and preference
for example: some like the harder launches (getting the rpms up before starting) and others like the softer

this is accomplished by changing out the variator weights, clutch springs, clutch center spring, etc.

about the same thing you're doing right now
in getting your mopeds up and running :thumbwink:

experiment and find out what you like!
sometimes after the changes, you'll find out that you prefer the setup that you had so you end up going back

most of all, get it back on the road :coolcruise: and have fun! :woot:
