My neighbor gave me his old honda spree that he use to ride. He said he just stopped riding it, and it has been sitting in his garage. He gave it to me and I have been working on it. i took the whole engine apart and cleaned it and replaced a piston, and put all new gaskets in. then I took the gas tank off and it was full of gas, dirt, and rust. What would be a good way to clean the gas tank?

you know what really rocks,
but is expensive - well about 60 bucks for the kit,
is the thank Kreem.
i've used it on two Kawaski ninja's from the 80's and once the tank has been kreemed it will never rust - and its a three step process - and the first step eats all the rust and cleans the tank like new -
the second step is like a base or something that neutralizes the first step - and the third step is a white kreem that seals the tank.
sounds a bit expensive for a tiny tank - but you can buy just one step at a time from the bike store - so maybe you can just get the cleaning first step.

hey wow regan86 - we're like twins, i've got an 86 spree, an 87 iroc, a 58 tr 3, and an 88 jeep yj. thats unbelievable.

kreem is the way to go but it dies have to be done in a well ventilated area.Don't rush the process when doing this.

doesnt sound like you can skip a step with that stuff... if step 2 neutralizes step one, its prolly nessicary

in the tech docs section it helped me realy good it said to drain gas and then put bolts in and then some water and swiss it around to knock the rust loose. then it said to put clean gas in and swiss it around. Then it said to go to a local hardware store (like aco) and but this thing called calcium lime rust remover. It was only 6 bucks. Then i put the CLR(calcium lime rust remover) in and let it sit for 30 min then swiss it around. then i put it in again with boiled water and put more bolts in and swiss it real good. This works wonders. my gas tank was super clean then :D
