TheBatman's '04 Kymco ZX's lil' bigger build

Good evening guys. I had mentioned about posting my zx build(again).
I guess i shall give you a bit of history 1st.....
I had gotten this zx the summer of '08 and unloaded it off the truck in 3 pieces, of course in non-running shape. I played and played(didnt even know of the forums). She finally was running very *. I even ran her w/o a pipe, just the header, w/o a auto choke or airbox for a good while. Top speed DOWNHILL, WFO was only 34 at the best. Then i was hit with the "bug" and started my mods.. My addiction grew from there. This summer i actually had 7 scooters but sold em off and decided to stay with the kymco. I do also have my L.C S9, an agility A50(back up for my back up) and my #1, my zx.(i also have another L.C S9 that's been a forever term project just to get in running condition(started with a frame)
Anyway, I dont have a pic handy of an OEM ZX but i'll list the visual mods to date....
Removed all the stickers
Painted all the silver parts black, Painted the fan shroud red
Removed the turn signals and wired for euro style(front and back)
Removed the rear rack, Removed the mirrors
Recovered the seat(more custom look)
Complete Wheels/Brakes/Suspension upgrade from a '09 S9.(gave a 2" lift)
"Blacked out" all the lenses
Upgraded to L.E.D lights all around
Removed rear "mud flap"
Installed chome handgrips and a tiny tach tachometer
Polished and vented the cvt cover and polished the carb bowl
I THINK that's all the visual mods...
During all of this i had ported/polished the oem intake/reed valve.. Shaved the head to set the squish, ported the oem ex port, gutted and modded the oem pipe(then got a next r)
Then i was finally able to "build it". I had went with a malossi 47mm kit, with a LV ZX pipe. 1600 kms later my crank broke in half and destoyed the cylinder kit. I finally get to build my baby again.....(i will end this post and post again and start with some pics and the performance parts list)

This vid was taken BEFORE i started building, she was just modded stock
I have had to do ALOT of porting on these cases and of course the cylinder as well. As some of you know the intake ports are way small(i will ASSUME the hondas are just as tiny) Here is the oem port, then one side done..

Here she is completely done

here is a pic before the seat was done.
Here i was test fitting my very 1st build.
Now i'm on this build...
I have a "Ruima" 50mm kit
44mm "baby stroker" crank
OKO 24mm carb w/4 petal reed cage
Suitai Cdi box w/ H.P coil
Malossi blue(106%) main spring w/ torsion controller
Motrio clutch W/ vented performance clutch bell
Malossi multivar w/ malossi rollers(weight unknown atm)
L.V ZX exhaust pipe
Bigger fin "performance" fan
Gates performance belt
I THINK that's all i have atm..

I had forgot to mention earlier that i had removed the refectors on the side and installed some red l.e.d's in it's place. I will end this post and post another since both so far are kind of long...

I seen that the cylinder boost port didnt quite match the cyl shirt, so i thought i'd bring it in closer...
Here is the cases done...i think...
Then i needed to touch the ex port.(i needed a few degrees anyway, so i cleaned it up. Not my best since i ran out of a few bits for the dremel

I did happen to take some port duration numbers already and i have now
With 3 base gaskets; of course i have a variation of sorts but i always get in this range.
EX @...187*
TRANS @.. 126-130*
BOOST @..128-130*
SQUISH @.. .9mm
This where i am ATM, i have the crank in the freezer now to reinstall and bolt the cases back together.
I'm going with black cases on this as you could see in the pics. I figure it'll help the new chrome shock(also kymco but solid chrome) to stick out along with the green wheel.
I need to order a set of engine dress up bolts. The polished cover along the black case with red annodized bolts. She should pop then. I should be able to break the 60 mark now with the gears installed. I had a gps'd HARD 55mph before.
I am kindof worried about the pipe working well but SUPPOSEDLY the 100cc version of the same pipe is identical in performance,etc..
I do still have a few mods i want to do on this. The next one will be a 220 brake rotor kit. Thanks to a memeber here(i met on another forum and he left it) i know the rotor WILL bolt up, i will have to have a different adapter plate made though.. I think i have caught you up on this, if not i'll post more pics...
I hope to get your input/advice/critique on this and along the way. I still have alot to learn.
I dam sure havent mastered carb tuning or the cvt yet.
Thanks for looking at my thread guys..

..(i hope i havent missed anything

)

yo batman. hope things are going good !
That crank breakage is in a pretty common area. Within the last couple of year or so with the 2 stroke on the verge of being discontinued. The market for parts are getting less and less. We have been seeing here alot of 2nd cranks and even china stuff being sold locally and especially on ebay.
Aloha

Hey bakaracer.. Ah man, i measured that once and cant seem to find that note. If memory serves me correctly, it's like 22.5mm...(you are talking about at the header joint correct?)
Hey there tru72, good to see you again. I guess i should have known you here here as well.

DDUUHHHH!!...
Thanks for the replys guys...
I was hoping to have the cases back together last night but my DUMB * had to touch it, so now maybe i can do it tomorrow..

yeah that inlet flange header pipe. if its 22.5-26mm, it will be a bit to small for your setup.you might want to find a pipe that has a 28mm inlet if not that pipe you have will hold you back on power.

Even the stock japan cranks break at that spot. Seen it a bunch of times.
As far as Chinese parts go you are correct Tru, the chinese make all kinds of parts for the dio and jog now. We all know China parts are junk. I cannot stand anything made in China. China products suck
Are those 10inch rims?? Sweet build.
If you need help tuning the carb batman your in the right place

Hey guys, Thanks for the input....
See, that's what i was worried about with the pipe. I had seen a "test" between the LV ZX 50cc vs. 100cc. They appeared identical throughout.
I had wanted one of the same guys to modify a pipe for me(he makes pipes) and we had it set up but now he don't want to do it i guess.(guess i made him mad over a scoot i had for sale) I have a pipe i was wanting modified to "have" a yasuni.(the same deminsions)... Guess i'll be "short" then, I definately don't have the funds for another pipe atm....
The Kymco's use 12" wheels.(i do wanna see if they fit a daelim cordi)(it has a clone of the same engine as well, with 10" wheels)
Oh yeah, i'll need carb help for sure...
I still don't even know if the arreche on my S9 is correct yet.

Wow, this thread had disappeared...wth?.....
Good morning guys...Anyway, i to am running the "CT" intake manifold. I was doing a leak down test last night and of course i have a small leak on the manifold. You guys got any input on getting a good seal here?????
(i had even used some gray rvt, but i still have a tiny leak.....)
ALSO, when i assembled the engine, i noticed it is harder to rotate now with the plug in... Remove the plug and she'll rotate easier for sure.... Does this "baby stroker" have that much more compression? Anybody had the same effect?
Thank you for any advice or input you may have. I'm dying to ride my lil z.

Thanks for a reply. I was wondering what happened to it....
Any good advice on sealing the CT manifolds?
