My girlfriend lost her key to her 87 aero 50. Will any 87 aero key fit it? or are they individualized keys?

if you take out the lock and take it to the dealer thay can get you a new key most of the time or take it to a lock smith but it will cost more there

Keys are number as are the locks. Take the lock to the dealer and if he is worth a crap he will make you a key. While at it record the key number in your manual so you will have it next time, or better yet get a spare key while you are at it.

For what it is worth, my dealer required a bill of sale or title on one of my visits to have a key made - you may want to call ahead.

I guess being an old guy has it perks. Never been asked, but could have always produced said items. But after several years of patronage, they do know who I am now.

Never ever ever go to the Honda dealer for a key .
Total Rip off .
Just start calling locksmiths and ask if they have Honda blanks for the model you have .
You might be able to just write down the # code on the ignition ,but its better to just remove the old switch and take it down with you .
I messed up and got a set of keys from Honda $ 40.00
Locksmith was under $5.00 bucks .
$$$$ DO NOT GO TO THE DEALER !!! $$$$

Your locksmiths are cheap, out here they don't do anything that requires more than cutting a key for less than $10. My Honda dealer makes keys for $7.50 including the blank.

OK I needed an ignition key made.
I took the ignition with me to ABC Locksmiths they looked up the code ...
made a key $ 10.00 ,Then I asked how much for a spare $2.50 OK Done...
I guess it does depend on where you go ?

Sounds like a good deal. I like Bear's advice, before you put the plastic back on, write that number down. If you're as absent-minded as I am, you could lose both keys. Of course, I would probably forget where I wrote it down...

In the file called "Scooter Info" (VIN # model #, key codes, belt sizes, etc) in the computer and on the remote hard drive that is only connected to the computer when backing up files AND on the inside the hard copy of the service manual for that model (yes, I have a hard copy of the service manual for every scooter I own).
