ok
you whiz kids
She's a1988 SB50P. I recently put in a 44mm top end kit. Compression is good. I've got over 30 mi on the upgrade but it runs like shxt at from 25-32mph. It bucks like a wild horse unless I adjust the air mixture screw all the way in (clockwise). The kit came with a #68 jet which I installed. The kit suggested putting a couple extra 1"holes in the air filter. I have Closed up all but one hole just to get it to run at higher rpm's. Any idea's? HELP

Yeah, it is obvious, with the holes close you are too rich.

so with all but 1 hole closed and the air/fuel screw turned in is the only way the engine will get to the high rpm's? have you tried closing all the holes and turning the air/fuel screw to the factory set point(1 1/2-1 3/4)?

I DID THAT THIS MORNING. FIRST i OPENED UP TWO HOLES. WOULD IDLE OK BUT REVING UP SHE JUST BOGGED DOWN. NO MATTER WHAT I SET THE SCREW IT WOULDN'T RUN. JUST BOGGED DOWN WHEN THROTTLED UP. SO THEN I PUT ON A FACTORY STOCK FILTER. IT STILL WOULDN'T RUN. NOW IT WON'T START WITH NONMODIFIED FILTER. BUT IT MAYBE FLOODED SO I WALKED AWAY FROM IT FOR A COUPLE HOURS. I'LL GET BACK LATER.

check out this guide on carb. tuning. http://enigma.lhosting.info/carbtune.html

might help. it's for larger carbs but should be same steps for our smaller ones.
