help!!! title question

okay i bought this '01 elite 50 from this prson who lives 200miles from me.
She signed the title when i picked up the scoot but didn't get it notarized,
So the DMV tells me I can't get a title unless she gets it notarized.
Which she has refused to do by setting up appointments (twice) for me to drive up to her city
and get the title done then i drive 4hrs each way (ohio speed limits suck!) only to get stood up.
So I'm out $650 +$60 in gas for the two 400 mile round trips, unless i can file for abandoned vehicle or something.

Anyone know if that's even plausible, or if i can sue to make her follow through with the agreement?
Any help is appreciated,
J

QFT!
Back in AZ i bought an 84 aero50, with a bos and registered it as a moped.
Here I pay premium prices for a bike with admittedly low miles, but the aparently original tank of gas in it,
aparently..because that was more like stale gas scented jello.
And get to drive from Troy (OH) to * Toledo twice just to be told by the seller after I've paid what i view as 10% a-hole tax
That she's too busy, or she's "not interested in getting the title done".

Question...You ever wanted to beat someone with a meat tenderizer?

I live n KS. They require titles too. But many states like NY and MO din't require titles on 50cc's. So, if I were to buy a scoot w/o title I would tell the DMV I purchased it from MO that does not require titles and present a BOS stating it was bought from a made up address from a MO city and made up name for X amount of money ($25.00 or $35.00). This only works with moped/less than 50cc scoots. But it does work. The DMV does not require notorization.

Of, course I would never do anything like this

I think the DMV can seach the vin # to tell if this scooter has been register in your state.

Might work in Kansas but in Iowa, we have to spend an extra couple hundred (actual amount is up to the greedy state) to get a bonded title for a scooter like that.

I have never heard of a signed title needing to be notarized, Ohio sure is one strange place!

I would contact the seller one more time and threaten small claims court if she doesn't follow through. That would be the last step before filing at your courthouse, see how much she likes the drive! And I would add the gas from the trips she bugged out on to my claim too if I were you.

Did you make sure she is the preson name on the title? if yes, take her to court.

If it isn't her name she broke the law and you should turn her into the cops. It is probably a felony if you paid $650.
