throttle cable slack

I just switched up my keihin 28mm for an oko 28mm. I like the idea of the idle adjustment being on the outside of the carb. With the oko carb it seems like it takes 1/8-1/4 the throttle to start working. The end of the throttle cable is in the correct place, the white plastic piece is holding it in. I didn't have this problem with my previous carb. It seemed like a straight foward swap, moved over my jets and set the needle clip. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance

did you adjust the gold looking cable adjustment on the top of the carb?

the top of the carb, the oko had an angled piece where the keihin had a straight one. i didnt adjust anything, just put the throttle cable through it.

Greetings:
It sounds like the cable is too long for the non-adjustable angled cable socket. Check to see if it opens all the way when you twist the grip. If not, it would confirm the too-long theory.
If you have an OKO cable, there should be an adjustment block you can expand to remove some of that slack. The handlebar adjustor is a bit of a PITA to get at, but another option for adjustment.
Treatland had a carb-top with the adjustor that Bakaracer mentioned.
Good luck!

I think the keihin had an adjustable top. I have to look at the carb to see if it opens all the way. Could I have bolted up the oko using the keihin slide assembly?
On another note, bike only idles with the choke up. I just transferred the jets from the keihin to the oko. The a/f screw is in the same position, 1.5 turns out. I think the neddle clip is 1 or 2 notches higher on the oko than it was on the keihin. Could this cause the bike to bog and then die out when I give it throttle?
Thanks baka and wheelman for the suggestions and tips

Go bigger on the pilot jet, if it only idles with the choke on.

after i get the cable squared away and move the clip, i'll change the jet. im hoping fixing those two things will alleviate the idle issue. thanks

If the cable is too long then the slide is closed. Try adjusting the idle mixture rather than just setting an arbitrary number of turns. It is adjustable for a reason. The pilot jet will not have much, if any effect on the idle mixture. Oh and the needle will change nothing at idle either.

I was hoping there was another solution than changing the jet, I'll play with the a/f screw.
Thanks
