Hi all,

My Spree has made a constant clicking noise down by the cooling fan since I've owned it (year or so). The Spree is in the basement for the winter and I thought I'd ask here before I start taking it apart to hunt it down.
Here's a link to the clicking noise that I recorded.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

Not sure about that noise, wish I could help. Sounds like a vibration though.

On my 85 Spree, I have a slight clunking/clanking noise that seems to be coming from the rear (clutch/final drive area). Happens only in idle and its not consistent. Didnt find any evidence of something hitting the inside of the belt cover. I do notice that I can push and pull the clutch assembly in and out a little by hand and it makes a similar noise. Should the clutch bell assembly move in and out like that, or should it be dead solid?

I probably should get my own thread..

I have an '84 spree and i literally JUST got done putting my transmission and pulleys back together with new gears, new tranny bearing, and a new belt.
My clutch bell doesnt budge an inch
Have you torqued the nut on the rear clutch bell down to spec? It should be 25-29 ft-lbs.
I got a cheap $25 analog torque wrench from sears a couple weeks ago and i love it. Its really worth checking out :imo:

Right on thank you! Good timing I guess. We put the clutch bell on using a very low setting with an impact wrench (Don't yell at me). I will get a proper torque wrench and verify its at spec. It does not really seem like that could be the culprit, as I am pretty sure the whole assemby moves in and out (Shaft and all). I wonder if I am missing a washer or spacer of some sort. I will check the fiche and the torque.

Thanks again.. Hopefully someone will help the OP :)
