Ignition switch instead of key?!

Post by kparrott »

Hey everyone,

I've got a 1985 Honda Spree that did not come with a key and I'm looking at possible solutions. I know I could get another ignition and key, which I might. But I'm thinking of putting a switch on instead of a ignition and key and I'm curious what you guys think about it. Just a simple 2-way switch where up in run and down is off. I realize security would need to be looked at more.

Thanks everyone

Remove the ignition switch from the scooter. Now remove the mounting plate from the switch. There will be a number under the plate on the switch ending in a letter and 2 numbers. Example "B32". Take number to Honda dealer and have key made. Write number down in your service manual so you will have it next time you need it. Oh, have a spare key made while you are at it.
