Total 400 hour resto on my 1984 Gyro Pics !

Ok fellow scooter fans, after many requests here are some pics of the finished gyro...yes the mileage is correct at only 3 miles on it from NEW. I spent well over 400 hours rebuilding every single part including taking the motor apart, and over 100 hours on plastic work and paint preservation. The instrument cluster, card and speedo took me well over 20 hours jst in polishing and time to get it back to new. Bought it from a retired dealer but it had sat for 26 years, did not run, had broken parts and scratches and needed lots of work to say the least. A labor of love since I strongly believe there truly may not be another Gyro anywhere in the USA or all of North America for that fact with this few miles and now in Better Than Factory MINT condition. Enjoy my friends and I need help on building the other 2 I have. Thanks for all the nice and wonderful comments.

Love the '70 Z50AK1 in the back. I had one of those as well.

Nice! With all that polishing I'd bet its better than new :thumbwink:

I've not seen a US '84 with white rims and red axle nut covers. What's the story on them?
Edit: Add - I'm wondering if yours is pre-production, special etc (not be a wise guy :) )

Dammmmnnnn!!!!!!! This belongs in some museum, and the Z50 behind it should get it's own thread too.

Greetings:

Honda-san himself weeps quietly from joy at how lovingly one of his creations was restored to Way-better-than-showroom condition. You are a Craftsman of great patience and attention to detail.

Hey thanks for all the great comments. OK for some clarifications, the Z50-A in the background is a 1969 model and the idea for the red wheel caps and white rims is my own...not to fear "OEM" afficianados...I have the stock pleades steel silver wheels and the stock silver plastic wheel caps. My next Gyro will be done in Blue...close as I can find to the original Honda "Neptune Blue" that the other Gyro color came in with the wheels again in white with Blue caps and the little luggage rack done in white as well....not to fret again, I have OEM backups in case. Still need help in getting a MINT seat and a MINT rear bumper.....and I will trade you mine for them so you will not be without parts. Have a great day !!! and some more of the resto pics.

shabba,

Dude, i commend you dude - that is my kind of restoration!! :2thumbs: I LOVE your Gyro. Your complete build makes me want to restore my own! What fairings are in the background, Rothmans NSR possibly?

Here ya go for your Gyro & your fairings:

Sanjuro, I too noticed shabba's zinc plating on his floorboard mount. I also had quite a few parts zinc plated in the early part of my Aero build. Honda has always been a fan of zinc plating; on their scooters, cars, street motorcycles... etc. Zinc plating just hates salt from winter roads. It does not take much, and the salt destroys the zinc plating. (as most other finishes)

Later shabba, here's one more: :worship:

Hi again guys..ok for the plating it is Cadmium not Zinc...used on rotors ,bolts etc. to inhibit rust and corrosion just as Z50r-ghost has stated. As for the "Rothmans" stuff it was for my 07 VFR-800 which is now complete as well to include the retro 1993 "wagon Wheel" 8 spoke as was used by the NSR's back in the day in lieu of the stock VFR 5 spoke unit. As for riding it yes I do but only on PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT days. The little Gyro has like 50 miles on it now. I'll throw in a pic of my completed Rothmans VFR as well tonight and another few resto pics.
