So whatya think? It's out of my new build and I think I'm running rich and could definitely kick the mix down to 40:1, right now it's at 32:1.

Greetings:

Why do you think it's running rich? That's a pretty good plug color. Temp gauge would confirm...

you need to tighten the plug more. when you get oil on the threads like that, it means the plug is not tight enough. i think thats why you think the oil mixture is to much.the plug color is good and as for the oil mix,32to1 is perfect unless you have the oil injector hooked up too.

The plug was in there good, I oil my threads and went a little overboard with this one plus it's an old plug.

No injector. Just 32:1 chainsaw oil . . . . I know I know. I gotta get a "pre-mix" style container to meter out the oil. Does anyone make those? Kinda like a sta-bil container.

I checked the temps with an infrared gun after 20 seconds @ wot. Got 276 by the head and 470 on the exhaust bung. I'd like to get one of those TTO trail tech Temp gauges. I'm gonna order one tomorrow at work.

Thanks for the consultation guys!

Greetings:

276 right after a WOT run sounds safe enough, depending on what you mean by "by the head. It might be a bit rich, which sure is safer than a bit lean... How's the power and how clean does it run through midrange transitions?

just go to a motorcycle store and a buy a ratio rite cup and get yourself some GOOD premix synthetic oil. dont run that chainsaw crap before it cake s up your rings, exhaust, piston and head.

Listen to baka about the chainsaw oil. FYI the chainsaw oil is why the plug, other than the electrode, is oily looking. It is doing the same thing to your piston and rings. The mixture is excellent BTW. Without good oil you can not tell if you are over oiling the engine, in fact I doubt you are at 32 to 1.

Actually, she 4-stokes quite a bit before it goes on the pipe. Even after wot when it's quite warm it'll do it.

Synthetic oil? I'll get me some. Fyi, I'm using Stihl "High Performance" oil. It's not their synthetic blended oil, but it runs well in my saws and I've used it for years. It's convenient too having them packaged in those little sealed containers.

It's for my Rattler so I just wanted to know what you guys thought about the plug. I don't want to post my Rattler in the Honda section

Hey jon what cylinder are you running on there? That prima pipe revs pretty good in the lower to middle 9k range so yes use good synthetic oil for you premix.
