variator
hello, i have an honda elite 1988 (sa50). i have change the variator for a new one. i have bought one on ebay . it is a keli but when i put it in my scooter , my scooter have lost big some of departure. can someone help me with my problem or saw me what change on my scooter . but someone said me to change the three spring on the rear clutch, can someone said me what spring does i need to bought?? or does it is that what i need to change or another thing??
Re: variator
Maybe try your original rollers in there. The ones that come with te Kelli variator are sometime not the best weight. Roller sets are for sale on eBay. Easy cheap thing to try.

I noticed no worsening of acceleration with the Keli and the 9-gram weights that come with it from DayWot. Is it possible you did not clean all the grease from the belt and pulleys? This is what I suspect.it is a keli but when i put it in my scooter , my scooter have lost big some of departure.

Re: variator
yes, all is clean. like i said, i have not departure but acceleration is ok and speed is ok.
Re: variator
The clutch springs would definatly give you better launch. Their number impies the RPM over stock before the clutch engages. 1000 clutch springs means your motor is revving 1000rpm more than stock before the clutch engages. Like giving a standard truck a bit of gas and dumping the clutch without the BANG! (or smoking tires). 1500 clutch springs are common but for a stocker with only a variator 1000 would give you more launch but not mess with too much of the equation. Anyone agree?
And wheelman is right, I have the 9gram supplied by dayWOT with the keli variator and they are the best I have tried so far. Still- lowering the weights should help your take off speed, at the sacrifice of a little bit of the top speed you seem to say is good (top speed works better for me so a bit heavier). Rollers are way easier than clutch springs.
Or, best of both worlds, and fun for a few more hours in the shop: Both are cheap so order both!

Keli Woes

And Parkhar, heavier clutch springs can have the oppositeeffect if the engine reaches high RPM and shifts the variator before the clutch engages. I have experienced this a few times. You start off with taller belt ratio = Slow, clutch-smoking take-off.
If your slow take-off/departure is due to the first sentence, then you really must lighten up rollers or change the ramp plate. Otherwise heavy clutch springs will actually make it worse.
Good luck!
Quoth Tedy:
In that case, I have to conclude that the Keli is shaped in such a way that the rollers begin to move much sooner than the stock variator. Lightening up the rollers should correct this. Consider trying 8.5 or 3x8 gram + 3x9 gram to see if it gets better. A steeper ramp plate may have a similar effect, as I believe the Stock plate is pretty flat. The OKO ramp plate worked best with the Keli for me.all is clean. like i said, i have not departure but acceleration is ok and speed is ok.

Re: variator
Try a SEF ramp plate , they make a world of difference and are cheap too! they are the same as the Daytona #2 at half the price, I own one of each and they work the exact same.
