Hey everyone! im brand new to this site and im glad i found it, O.K. i jut bought a 2001 honda Elite SR from a buddie for only 180 bucks! it does run but not well, it has no battery so i kick start it each time, fires right up. so i gave him th 180 buck and loaded it in my pick up, get it home, fires right up, go out on the road and i cant give it more then 1/4 to half throttle with out it bogging down then adventuly dieng. so itwill not ride WOT. and even at slow speeds it cuts out.. very frustrating. you know if u have had this problem.. ANYWAYS.. when i spray some carb cleaner and give it full throttle and will run wide open.. ive cleaned the crarb (alot) put fresh gas/oil in it. i also have unscrewed what it appears to be he needle vlave that sits on top. cleaned that all up real well good, ive tried adusting the carb with the screws.. nothing, sometimes for a brief moment it will run wide open and proceds to "bogg" or die.. any help?! thanks guys!

also somtimes when i have it up on the kickstand, i give it 1/4 throttle and will rev up and down and catch its self every once and while

I suggest you do a little reading here, then tackle pulling the carb all the way off and dismantling to clean the inside of the carb as well as the outside. Here'sthe best photo sequence I've found on Honda carbs. Pay special attention to the emulsion tube and the Pilot and Bystarter circuits, using a single bristle from a wire brush if necessary to open those up.

Stop spraying carb cleaner in your two stroke engine.

If it is not your carb then maybe check the gas tank.

I had a defective gas tank /petcock that did EXACTLY the same thing.

does it have the airbox on, and does it have a filter in it?

Good question. no air box or filter wiil make it bog too.

yes the air box is on with a filter, ok. i took the pet * off and cleaned it up along with the filter. still nothing.. im not sure how the vaccum works on the pet *, i blow into the fuel line part i can blow air out the inlet, i try blowin where the vaccum line goes, i get no flow? is it suspose to do that or is it a defected petcock? thanks for all the help guys i will keep trying!

apply suction to the vaccum line on the petcock and fuel should flow out of the other line.

it works! i took apart the carb, too the jet out,cleaned it up with carb cleaner. im 90% sure it was the float needle sticking, but anyways runs great! now im lookin into some cheap mods to get my top speed higher! thak guys!!
