Hey guys, so i can consistently get my honda spree up to 28 mph. I weigh about 140 lbs. i've reached up to 33 on flat land. but like every1 else, i want it a little faster. I have read online of many people removing the restrictor plate from the muffler on many different scooters, however, i have not heard of any1 doing this on a Spree. Is it possible to do this on a spree without having to change or replace anything? If so, how do i do it??

The short answer is, No. You can drill the baffles in the muffler, but the results have mixed reviews. If your Spree was an Iowa Spree, you could drill the restrictor, but with the speeds you say you are getting it isn't an IOWA.

the main "restriction" of the spree is it's lack of a variable transmission and lack of aftermarket gearing. do all the engine work you want, you'll have little to no gain on the top end. it will just get there quicker. my spree is only 1-2 mph faster than a good running stock, non-iowa, domed piston spree.(there are a few variants of the spree engine  ) but from a dead stop, i will end up over 1/8 mile ahead before the stocker will reach top speed.

the known, proven ways to make a spree engine faster: a bigger rear tire, modifications to the drive system through pully modification and a different belt, and making the engine rev higher. but due to the fact that the drive ratio is fixed, you will lose bottom end to gain top end. :x
