Distances between center of gear shafts? '94-up

Post by AerosRule »

Can anyone please measure and tell me the distances from the center of the driveshaft to the center of the countershaft (mm please)? Then from countershaft to Final driveshaft? Then Final Driveshaft back to driveshaft? I am hoping to swap in Dio gears into my '84 NH125 (Aero 125) and so far the main bearing sizes for the driveshaft and final seem the same, not sure about the end bearings and countershaft needle bearings - any ideas what those bearings are?

Thanks!

1984 Aero 125 with 24mm OKO and CT manifold (modified), 56mm bore and ported cylinder, still looking for exhaust, reversed stud pattern and bend under fan shroud too tight to frame, standard pipe goes around in front of top of shroud.

The 50s don't use needle bearings for the countershaft. The countershaft runs in the "Plain Bearing" system of a drip channel for direct Steel-on-Alu contact, kept apart by that thin film of 10W-30 oil. I gather the 125 uses needle bearings?

Sorry I don't have the dimensions you requested.

Yes, the 125 uses 14mm ID needle bearings pressed into the cases. As long as the 50's use 14mm ends, I'm good. My issue now is the lengths of the shafts - it looks as if the 50's use a shorter rear/final driveshaft/axle than my 125, which is 162mm in length. 62.5mm of which is on the gearbox side and 97mm of which is on the tire side, where it rides in a 6204 bearing in the frama sub-member. It is 17mm diameter at the tire side splines, 15mm diameter at the section from the splines to the threads for the tire nut, and 14mm wide at the tire nut threads. On the other side, it is 24mm wide at the bearing fit, 20.5mm wide at the splined section (which should be 18.5mm if it were to match my measurement of the ID of the final gear ÔÇô the 2mm difference must be the height of each spline or a bad job measuring on my part of the final gear ID), and finally 18mm wide where the gearbox side goes into a 6203 bearing. Oh yes - 17mm at the very end on the gearbox cover.
