cheapcycleparts.com lists 16155-GZ5-000 (believe this is a honda number) as the part number for the 94 and up float valve. check the part number they gave you. But do consider new fuel and vacuum lines and a filter
As Trafficjamz said. no more starting fluid, use a premix fuel to prime.

if it is leaking while the engine is off, a new petcock may be on that shopping list.

it is only leaking when it is running. The honda dealers order me the wrong inlet. They order me the one for Honda elite 1988. Now they were going to order me the right part but it is 25 bucks plus taxes. I also look it on that sites
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com and it is the same price. I change my mind I am just going to order the whole carburetor on ebay . I saw it is 32 bucks plus shipping. ANy ideas ?

New Carb On my $50.00 1998 Honda Elite SA50p
2 days ago I've decided to just go ahead and buy a new carburetor instead of the float valve. When I think back buying just a float valve for $25.00 that is allot of money for just a small tiny thing. I bought a brand new one one ebay for $34.00 and free shipping. It came in the mail today . So I tried it and man it make a big change. I got it start on first kick and one pouch and it fire up on electric .
I had took it for a ride .It runs great and good speed and then I looked at the speedometer and and it seems like it is not working. The oil light is not ON and I think the fuel gauge is working .So any ideas on how to get my speedometer working. So tomorrow I will be getting myself ready to start my spray paint job.

glad you got it going. for speedo you need to check the cable, possible stripped gears on the wheel end. hard to say. Hope you have good luck with that carb.

did you ever download or look at the manual: find it here:
http://www.hondaspree.net/other/SA50_88-02_service.pdf
section 12 page 8 shows the speedo drive gear. A cable slides into it and than goes to the speedo. the gear could be stripped, the cable could be broke. Or it could all just need attention. the speedo is not electrical.

if you don't want it shiny then use a flat black or satin. but painting on the floor boards will come off after some use.

Happy for your progress. Good luck with the paint job, on my last build,
I used a flex bumper and trim paint with adhesion promoter primer. Not glossy.
I might try a matte clear coat to give it some protection.
