Why not just put some really cool footpegs forward, and leave all the stock components like they are. Run it up through the gears and transfer to forward pegs for cruising. I always found having dual pegs gave options to riding position for optimal comfort..... shifting feet in those panic moves is the only drawback for safety..... :urban:

Well, Christmas shopping is done for this year, so I took the opportunity to splurge on myself and buy this for the swap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 97.c0.m619

I'm having it sent to my work so my wife won't find it on the porch and bug me about why I shop so much online.

What are you going to do about the lighting circuit?

I will hack together the old harness and the new lights. I have some 12v rectifiers to use to get it running 12v lights. Ill yank the motor starter circuit and hack in a stebel nautilis horn if i use a battery. Ill place that inside the tool cover and cut some holes in it.

Hey Majour....would a new, complete, 12 volt, CDI, '83 Passport wiring harness do you any good?

I dont know if it is any different than the 81 harness except for the 12v cdi. My harness is a little worn so i would be interested in taking it off of your hands, but it would be buchered to death to match my controls.

What you see is what I got! Being that it is nearly christmas and nearly the end of the year, my Wife and my Work have had me exhausted!

As soon as the motor arrives this wednesday, I should be back at it!

Well my motor arrived today! Did a little cleaning and installing of components, as well as trial fit of an exhaust i had. I placed a huge order for electrical connectors too so i will be making my own harness for this thing too.

Installed. Perfect fit!

Compare the two. It is a little longer

Trying the exaust and checking for clearances.

Needs shortened and tucked in closer

Shock covers cut off. Not amazing but not bad.

Still have a bunch to do. Once the welding and cutting is done, ill blow it apart and paint it.

The carb tube is rubbing the cross tube. I have a couple of ideas on how to fix it, but nothing concrete. I might turn it around and point it forward, or just trim it down. Other issue is that the carb hits the frame as well. i am in the right mind to swap to an oko carb setup. I think that I already have a 24mm carb, so swapping shouldn't be a problem. New carb, new intake, problem solved.

The tail lights and signals are all in that little bulb. I am not crazy about the quality of them, but they should work.
