OMG! I love that bike. As the article says, it's a HOnda SH150i. It's a big thing in Asia. If you riding one of those, you are a baller. I used to ride one of those in Vietnam everywhere. It's a beauty. And it's a fast bike too!
In vietnam they have the Honda SHi in 125, 150, and a 300.
They probably bought it to the states to compete with the Zuma 125.

I think it's a pretty nice scooter. 108cc of 4-stroke power is going to be great for around town use. It's pretty sharp looking too IMO. All it needs is a Dio motor

Picked up new (Chinese-made!) Gates stock belt at Honda-san's this morning. There were two new 2010 Elite 150s parked near the door. I gotta say they look all grown-up. Big but not too big. Highway-capable but best in town. Clean, Green, mean scootin' machine.
No good for me though. Despite my legendary Wheel-strength, I don't think I could carry one upstairs by myself. But the wheels are big enough to ride it up...

Sorry guys, but I just can't get used to the wings, fins, whatever. I want a scooter that looks like a scooter. I couldn't afford a new one anyway, but I'm more and more drawn to the vintage scoots, for nostalgia and for looks.

I'm the same way; aesthetically the older scoots are just more pleasing to my eye. Arguably, though, we're of the 'vintage' that gives us a perspective of what original scoots looked like. Actually, my memories go back to the Husky in the 50's-60's. But I can remember when I saw my first Vespa in the 70's. Me and my Biker Babe had been married about 5 years and I had a 90 Yamerhamer. People moved in next door with a Vespa. I liked it and have wanted one ever since. Maybe that was sticking in my craw when I got back into 2 wheelers last year. I've noticed cycle riders too. The older guys go for the 70's-80's stuff that look like a real cycle. Youngsters go for the wings and fins. They look like toys.

I'm not sure we're dealing with age as much as we are taste. I happen to be a young guy (22 still counts, right?) and I'm a huge fan of the vintage look. That's why I dig Aeros and Sprees so much, because they've got that same "Vespa" style going on, but slightly modern and that 80s freshness. I guess that, unfortunately, age and taste are irrevocably connected.
I agree that it looks a little generic. I saw some no-name crap cycle for sale at a used car lot while getting my motorcycle permit today and it looked a lot like that.
I can see why people would want to go new, instead of buying an old Vespa or a Spree or Aero, especially considering the 50cc limitations of the small Hondas. But HOLY CRAP I just looked up the pricing on the sh150i. $4500? That's STEEP. Personally, I'd forget about the new Elite.
