YOU SHOULD DO IT Fock all the nah sayers.
If I can stick a 327 corvette engine in a Datsun 620 truck you can totally stick a 350 in a large 530 bmw. Im all about more power and cheaper to maintain.
These are when I replaced the tranny that scattered

It's a Bimmer, Beamers have 2 wheels
I'll have to go with the "horrible idea" vote. That car could easily accept a wide range of bmw motors/trannies, and any CUSTOM swap is going to cost $$$, no matter how many donor parts you have.
A used tranny for that car is probably in the $200-$300 range.

I posted it on craigslist to see what happens and i'm getting my asking price tomorrow morning of $1,500. Not bad, stole for $75 n sold for $1500. We'll see if this guy's bull *.
Parts for this car are hard to find cause they're 94-95 only and they din't make many of these to begin with. I have other priorities so this will otherwise sit in the yard and rust to *. Costs $450 for a tranny rebuild kit plus another $900 for the dealer to do the work, plus I need cat back exhaust (idiot cut the exhaust off it) and I don't feel like sinking the money into it. It's $1500 closer to me getting the TRX700XX I've been wanting.

Eh screw it. The guy flaked on the 1.5K, and bills came up so I sold it cheap. Next time I get up there for a weekend I'll get pics of the motor that was going to go in it. We had it all built and ready to go.
In short I made a stupid move and sold the car for $500, but still made money. Decided I'd rather have a beamer that needed less work.

I had the same truck a few years ago, but mine was baby blue. Someone had already done a motor swap on it though so it was no fun.
