spree off books

ok, who's dealt with a spree with vin off the books and actually got it registered and got a title? I have AAA and I have some forms to fill out. anyone know what I can expect? is it worth the hassle? Dang thing runs great, I'd be sad to see it go for parts.
but who ever held on to their pink slips back then?, poor little nameless sprees all over the world... This one runs really nice too..... it even handles me at 260 lbs! I'd LOVE to ride the streets looking like a dam circus clown on a little spree, if anyone can help let me know.... thanks. Dan
