Elite help Please

I have a 99 elite sa50. When i turn the key on the tail light dont come on and the elec start dont work. I kick start it and it starts and all the lights come on. Any ideas where i should look?\

The battery is dead or the fuse is blown.

I forgot to tell you that the light and starter do work when the engine is cold.

Check, clean and grease your battery connections.

If that doesn't work add another heavy cable form the negative terminal to a good grounding point. If the problem goes away you have a bad ground somewhere. I'm assuming you don't have a multimeter to check the system.
