Strange Spree Piston Rings?

I've got the STD rings from Honda for my Spree, but one has a silver ring and other is standard looking. Also the third has a octagonal shape and is a thin ring. How do each fit into piston?

Spree manual says the keystoned ring goes on top. There's a note that the top ring can also be identified by its chrome plate on the outer surface, so your silver one's the top.

The lower ring goes over the octagonal expander.

I just put the expander in the 2nd groove, easily went in since it is so thin. Then just popped the bottom ring on top of it in the groove. Is it that simple? It justs makes the bottom ring stand out of the groove more so than the top. It was too easy, did I do it correctly?

I THINK there is a pin that keeps them from rotating and catching ports, might want to check or you could spend days trying to get it together again.

Also coat the piston/rings in oil before reiserting into the jug, it makes things easier.

I ordered the piston ring set and didn't get a pin only two rings and an expander. I mean the top ring (silver) fits good but the bottom ring with expander is kind of loose as it slides around on expander. I'd really like to get this straight, the top end is all new and I can't afford to do this again.

No like ap in in the piston the lines up with a notch in the ring gap.

right, I'm with you now. I didn't see any markings on piston rings for "t" so I guess it doesn't matter which side. I'm afraid that the lower ring might clear the pin sitting on the extender, maybe not compression in the bore.

Just be sure you put the piston on the right way(if you removed it).
