i might just snagg that...

but earlier you sayd that the rq is great for takeoff, good at midrange and ok at top end. so does that just mean that above (what is 'top end' on these) what mph it will just start to slow? can that be overcome by the big bore when i get it?

also, can gears be done before the bore kit? or should i just stop being stuipd and do it all at once ;).

what do you want more?
do you want to have better 5-35mph or better 55+

the R1 is great for low range, its a good 72cc pipe from what i read.

I really say call up VTCycles and see what they sugest for a pipe.

but yeah, just do gears at the same time as the bore kit. You can do it before the bore kit, but if you are going 7:1 gears. 7:1 on a stock bike would be slow on take off.

My computer is being really slow, but i searched here and on gooogle for reviews on that pipe and couldnt find it. i think i'll just have to get used to his search function on this site.

im gonna make that guy an offer if he can get me a little better picture. from the picture it doesnt look like the 'r1' i see on ebay.

i got into pulling the motor apart today and came across some problems/questions.

first off, what in the world is this? and is this how it goes together (it fell out and scattered, so i just placed them where i thought they went)
Image

my guess is it is some sort of cintrifugal clutch for the belt? but either way the little plastic peices all have flat spots in them, and one is split all the way to the metal.

also, does this require a special tool to get off? the guy i work for said its a common motorcycle tool and it threads in and then pushes on the crank. sounds right, but is there any way to get around it?

and inside this back case is where the gears that i will be buying go right? I couldnt get it off, i took out all 5 bolts and it still wouldnt come off. i didnt want to pry it incase i was doing something wrong.

to your first question, that is a variator, . the things inside it are called rollers. When the motor revs up the rollers go out, pushing the back plate out. Making the hole thing move. the belt now rides higher on it giving you good top end.
Rollers are something you need. Flat Spots will cause really bad take off.

Second question, i have no clue.

third question. Mine came off easy, but i know sometimes its hard to beak the sell. Just fight it some.
I would just work on the plate and not fight the axle.

okay so the rollers need to be replaced.

all the stuff i need (rollers, crank bearings, gaskets, ect) can be gotten from the Honda dealer? like the car honda dealer or does it have to be a moped/atv/bike dealer?

second question: Come on! i need that answer lol. how did you get yours off? that is all thats left from me getting the crank/rod out and im ancious!:D

i will work on the case tomorrow. But that is where the gears go right?

also, anyone got a picture of a White elite?

You will prob need a puller, something like this. http://store.chromeauto.com/at3041.html
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

At least you ask alot of questions, its better to learn the hard way, there are so many engine/ trans combo's...
Can't afford speed then stay away from it!
