Lye is nothing to LOL about. It's sodium hydroxide, and it will eat your skin right off while you watch and scream in horror and pain. It's commonly used to dissolve murder victims. You won't find it at Lowe's or Home Depot, but if you have an Ace hardware or something like that, they will likely have it. If you go in acting like a buffoon, they might not sell it to you. Make sure you wear LONG rubber gloves when messing with the stuff, and make sure it is pure, only mix with water. Don't use drain cleaner, it commonly has lye and some other crap in it that will eat aluminum.

Yea lye will f*** you up, they use it to make meth, like I said in the other thread a gutted pipe wont run right, just drill through 2 baffle plates.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.

wow I did not know that lye was that crazy...... I may just do the bon fire a couple of times.

So what would the water to lye ratio be??

And where do I drill through the baffle plates? is it right through the exhaust outlet at the rear of the pipe??

tryed to drill but there is nothing there I think it is broke loose as the pipe has some stuff shaking around in there. My drill bit was a "standard 3/8 so i would think that is plenty long enough.

I have a * of a fire going on right now and that pipe is glowing red so I think my fire will make a difference.

Thanks again,
snowdaze

PS - just to give watchers and helpers of this thread a heads up, I think I may sell this spree after I have it running great - which should be after we paint and install the pipe. But I think I want to get my son a better looking one and one that has working break light and turn signals. This one has a button on the head light to start it because someone has messed with the wiring at some time. This was origially John Lingenfelters pit bike. But that was a few owners ago. My son is not leagal to ride as he is too young but as long as common sence is used he will not get stopped. What is a good running spree worth that has lighting issues and will not win any looks awards?????

With fuel prices these days around $400, get everything working $500, make it look decent from 10 feet away $600.

That's MI prices. Around my area it would have to be MUCH cheaper in order for anyone to bite, it really just depends on the demand in the area and not necessarily how well the thing works. 80's Spree and Aero come up for sale on Craigslist about once a week around here. and the ones that they're asking WAY too much just sit, but the ones that are $75 - $200 usually are gone by the next time you mash the refresh button.
in NC, you cannot title a 50cc, so that aspect of the equation doesn't matter even though it does in some other states.
