Geared 86 honda spree

hey scooter dudes i'm looking to gear my spree does anyone know some good reliable website to get parts from??.... and if you have any tips on starting im open for suggestion.....thanks jake

No aftermarket gears available for spree. Only way for more serious speed is complete engine swap.

You can put a slightly wider automotive belt on it which will spread out the rear pulley giving you higher gearing.

well how fast can i get it without doing a complete engine swap??

just to let all of u know, that they do have two different gears for the spree. u wanna look for the 86-87 model. the gear the clutch rides on is different. one has 13 teeth, one has 14 teeth. dont really know what performance u would get......

A maxed spree motor (porting, had shaving, different belt, intake manifold and port cleanup) might make 45 geared to have slightly slower than stock acceleration 40 is more reasonable with same or better than stock accel. These are fairly rough numbers averaged form people who have done these mods. However 30 on a spree is scary enough, it cruse suspension and lack of steering dampener makes it prone to speed wobbles.

The biggest problem I have noticed is the connection from the handlebar to the forks. It uses the same kind of connection as a BMX bike. I've managed to get it tight enough on my red Spree so that it doesn't wiggle, but my black one needs some work. That said, once I got my red one set, with good properly inflated tires, I don't have any wobble at 40 (going down a fairly steep, very long hill with a strong tailwind), even around turns. I think it'd be good up until about 60. At that point, I'd want better brakes.

no shouldn't wobble. check tires and rims, may be bent also check front suspension

I put the tires on myself...they are new and hopefully I didn't screw anything up. I made my best effort tto keep the tube untwisted and filled them up rode around, deflated them and then reinflated to let everything settle.

I didn't notice any obvious bends in the wheels, I will spin test the front but I watch the back wheel all the time when it is up on the stand and I think I would have noticed a bend .

I have riden around for 5-6 miles so far - the "wobble" is slight and periodic as I reach top speeds. Granted I never have riden a motorized bike- it wasn't crazy, but just enough to get that kind of feeling like when you in a car when you go around a corner too fast.

Does that sound crazy? Thanks for the help

Check for bent forks, mine does this as well. I cant find anything wrong with it besides it went into death wobble mode the second time of the 4 times its seen asphalt with my * on the seat.

Thanks for the information; I'll check the fron t forks but I really just need a day to test run this puppy out of traffic. I am going to see if I cn sneak a run or two on the local college running track...nice and level topractice my turning.
