Electric only works when in wants

Post by RastaCalavera »

My honda elite 50 87' runs fine. (still a little slow for my liking) A problem that I have is that the turn signals only work everynow and then. I know the bulbs work fine and the headlight and break lights work perfect everytime. The signals seem to only work twice a ride before pooping out. The light on my dash lights up and there is a clicking noise, but no light coming from either side. Also, if i want to signal I have to repeatedly click the switch back and forth. Is there a way to make it so I don't have to do that once i fix the turn signal problem? Are my wires just lose and if so how to i tell where to tighten them and how do i do that? Or do some of the wire heads need to be cleaned? I have no idea I am in the dark as of now and any help would be welcomed.

Blinkers take alot of load to run, make sure your batt. is charged well and the wires to the batt. are clean and tight. If all is good with the batt. and the charging system then your blinker relay is on the fritz. Very common.

I thought the battery was only for electric start! It seems like there is a generator that runs the lights but I just got a new battery a few weeks ago and haven't put it in yet I will have to try it.

The blinkers will not work without a batt. in the scoot unless your under full throttle. The magneto in your scoot only puts out a small amount of amps and only under high rpms. You will also burn out your voltage regulator running it with out a batt.
