Boggs out above idle
Ok guys, scooters arent realy my thing but i have alot of experience with two stroke motorcycles and watercrafts. So here is my problem. I have a mini chopper frame w/ a 87 elite 50 motor welded to the back of it. The wiring is a mess, there is no air box (one of my problems). It starts fine and idles great. But as soon as you go to give it any gas it bogs but continues to run but doesnt realy gain any rpm's. It allmost sounds like a rev-limiter (could be elecrical problem) but all i am wanting to know is were to start looking for problems. I will get some pictures up here so you can see what i have to work with.

as i said earlier it is a mess. But i raised the needle one notch to try and ritchen it up....didnt change a thing. I am leaning more towards electrical because when you block the carb off with your hand nothing changes. Does anyone know the ngk plug number for this thing? It has a br7es in it now and i highley doubt thats the right plug. I run that in my 125 motocrosser.

Dude...
It won't run without some sort of airbox/airtube.
If you put a pod filter on the carb directly, you will need to enlarge the main jet. For a Spree, this is a #65 -> #85 jet jump. Playing with the needle valve won't cut it.
I found that a pod filter stuck to the end of the intake rubber (for the Spree) works fine with stock jetting. Assuming you have that part. Getting the length of the intake right seems to be the key.
