Nh 125 motor tipped over onto cvt side = crank damage?
While I while pulling my motor I put her down with the cover off (stupid) and she tipped over onto the floor hitting the shaft with her weight.. it's a nh 125 so it weights a metric s*** ton. No visible damage has occurred but I wonder if this affected the crank shaft in a negative way.. the engine did not fall just tipped over with the cover off.. i'm worried bout the girl.

Re: Nh 125 motor tipped over onto ctv side = crank damage?
Greetings:
If you buy the necessary gauges and stands, you can perform a runout test to see if the shaft end still rotates within spec. Those specs are in the Service Manual. The hog being tested here is a tad bigger, and they're doing a lot more to it, but the principle is the same. The end shouldn't wobble. You don't have to remove it from the crankcase, just spin it from the opposite end.

I wonder if it's enough to cause run out.. she just tipped on the side could that be enough?

Greetings:
If it made no impact and the crank end isn't visibly marred, I would GUESS not. Why guess? You can measure and be sure.

Re: Nh 125 motor tipped over onto cvt side = crank damage?
I wonder if anyone has had their engine tip onto the pully side with the cover off?
Would you worry
this has been bugging me for days
one of the worst times of my life.

Yup turns out there was a little run out.
Tossed the engine on my curb
hope someone can make use of the paper weight,
not going to even try to pull it apart without the pullers.
I guess ill just work on my rm 80.
No more scooters for me.

Everything but the crank is in good shape just dusty. The starter seized on this motor so early. What a shame. Don't let your engines tip over onto ur CVT guys. I'm in Canada so I doubt anyone wants to pay the hassle to buy parts for this thing.

Wow! You would be surprised who would spend the money to obtain un-obtainable parts! So the whole scooter is on the curb???OntarioBrapNq wrote:Everything but the crank is in good shape just dusty. Re: Nh 125 motor tipped over onto cvt side = crank damage?
No, I'm just upset. It would have been picked up within 1 minute as a scrapyard owner lives right across the street from me. The top end has absolutely no wear what so ever. I was pretty stoned and drunk while turning my CVT to see if their is any runout. If my intoxicated eye was correct the crank runout looked VERY minor. Think it's worth getting a * tool made to pull this flywheel off and check the straightness of the crank? I done * up. All I got now is a beat to s*** spree scooter wise.

Greetings:
Even a totally non-intoxicated eye won't pick up the few thousandths of an inch that put a crank beyond spec, plus the variator ain't what you need to measure. If you can't measure with runout gauges and don't want to pay to have it done, AND you can get it to start, just run close to home until you're satisfied it won't grenade.

Re: Nh 125 motor tipped over onto cvt side = crank damage?
It has spark, compression and a clean carb, yz 80 pipe ( ik i need a real pipe I was making one tuned to the nh125) n a ghetto air filter ( restricted heavily to match the stock one i hope) I can get the starter rewound n then id found out what my lil bump did to the crank. I don't want to drill start as it probably would make things worse as i neve rtuned this carb right so if it starts and spins faster than my drill i'm roast.

Re: Nh 125 motor tipped over onto cvt side = crank damage?
I agree just run it close to home for a while and see how it goes. I agree they are heavy beasts I have an nh125 as well. If you do ever decide to part it out I'm looking for an exhaust for mine, I'll even go for just the header pipe
but I think it would be a sin to part it out. I bet it will run just fine
