A much happier event took place today.
1983 Yamaha RX50MK...I am seeking the history of this bikes release and it's actual rarity.
I am amazed to have found a 118 mile example... Edit: I find people saying that these bikes were issued to dealerships in order to promote the Virago model.
Some were raffled off, some were sold.
Mine was a Christmas gift, and bought in Murfreesboro, Tn.
I was fortunate to have bought from original owner.
He rode it the 118.3 miles shown, then dumped it in a gravel driveway, never to get back on it.
Total production for 3 versions of the RX50 said to be under 2,000.
Mine is designated as the RX50MK which means it is the "Midnight Special" and is appointed in Black with Gold chrome trim.
The RX50Kand RX50L are versions with Red paint and white chrome trim.
All models share the same engine as the YSR50.
This info is just some things I put together from internet searching...

Today, this '86 CH250 came home with me.
It has the Kenwood radio option that I will keep for my Helix.
Probably sell the bike for a very quick, small profit, and never look back.

Mike, Mike, Mike...
How on earth do you keep finding these things? You really should share the burden. I'll be happy to take the MB off your hands.
BTW, do you still have the Sym 150? How has it aged?

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

How on earth do you keep finding these things? ...Mostly Craigslist, but facebook helps me stay connected with the Craigslist deals.
Just bought a '75 CB200 in Indy.
Been waiting to find one worthy for a few years.
You really should share the burden. I'll be happy to take the MB off your hands....It's up for grabs first $450
I've seen worse, getting harder to find.
BTW, do you still have the Sym 150? How has it aged?...Swoopy is proving to be a reliable and easily serviced moto. There are times that I ponder the benefit of a few extra cubes, but the 150 gives it's all without fussing.

Thanks for the comparison, but Jay would be upset with it...
Rather than a collector, my view is that of a rider.
Right now, the stable holds what you see in my signature, along with a Bird minibike in ratty condition.
No car since 2008... F-150 for bad weather, travel, and trailer duty.
