spree will only start will starting fluid

Post by jme »

I can get running with starting fluid. Does this sound like a choke issue carb issue vacuum line.

Never ever use starting fluid on a two stroke.

It strips the oil off the cylinder walls and piston . You are ruining your engine.

If you have to prime the engine, use a premix of gas and oil at a 32 to 1 ratio.

I agree, clean your carb.

If that does not work, clean it again.

Will run fine once started with starting fluid. Plug is dry when I check it after trying to start without starting fluid. Carb? Choke? Vacuum line? All of the above?

Bystarter is probably plugged in the passage from the bowl to the bystarter bowl. CLEAN THE CARB!

Chances are you installed the slide wrong. The long full length slot on the slide goes to the engine side of the carb to engage the nub inside the slide bore. If it does not the slide does not go all the way down into the carb.

should gas be in vacuum line

Post by jme »

I cleaned my carb and my spree is still running like crap. Gas isn't getting into the head plug is dry. Has a hard time starting. I can see a small amount of gas in the vacuum line. Any ideas?

So clean the carb again. Noobees usually take about three tries before they get it right.

If the fuel is bouncing around at the bottom of the vacuum line next to the intake nipple , that is normal. If it is running down from the petcock, then the petcock is bad.
