Re: Polini Corsa Kit Owners Read This

Here we go again.

First, I wasn't looking for max preformance. If I was I would have gone with aftermarket carb and a better exhaust. I wanted max preformance while using/keeping stock carb rejetted, so I can keep the oil injection and a factory looking exhaust. I was after a factory look with max preformance daily rider. I originally got the Corsa simply because I wanted the best cylinder I could get/find.

Second, I didn't BLOW my Corsa because of my set up. The crankshaft bearings were 11 years old and the ball bearing keepers went out so the ball bearings went loose in the case and up into the cylinder and trashed it. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have gotten ANY polini as this $99 set up is almost as fast and the quality is great. Tearing the case was a bit of a pain but I should have done that the first time and replaced the bearings as they didn't feel or I should better say they felt like 10 year old bearings. I ran 3k miles on the first set up with never a problem. I broke it in fine.

Um, I am an aircraft mechanic for 25 plus years, rebuilt many car engines, from my 71 Dodge Challengers 340 to my Shelby Dodge Daytona VNT turbo 2.2, some jet engines, countless mower engines and had countless 2 stroke model airplane engines with tuned pipes that had to be shortened to get the engine on pipe (tuned). I think I know a 2 stroke, just was lazy (short on time) in tearing the case apart the first time to replace $10 crankshaft bearings. We had bearings go out on our model airplane engines as well from wear, rust from sitting long periods and dust getting ingested. I knew it could have happened, I took the chance and 3k miles later they failed. I am far from a newbie, sorry.

Now, on another scooter, it can be possible, on the Honda 1999 Elite, a larger diameter one just won't fit to to clearance issues with the transmission case.
The Polini is a larger diameter and it fits. The Keli is similar to stock like you say to match the belt's pitch. Check the roller ramp profile though, they are different. This allows the rollers to push further against the ramp plate. Yes, the stock vari will show full wear as hills will allow it to reach the edge.

I love when newbies b**** like they are master engine builders, when i was a newbie there were no computers so i learned the hard way and only problem i have now is replacing old fuel valves and lines, just because a part is cheap to me its worthless, its what works! so for now i will kick back and laugh
some people dream of speed, i own your dreams!
