Spree Exhaust Rusted On...Can't get off

Post by Saxonthebeach »

Just like the title says, the exhaust on my '84 Spree is severely rusted, and no matter what I do, I can't get the bolts to budge at all. I want to take it off so I can paint the exhaust and rear wheel.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I WD40'd the f*** out of it, and it still won't budge. As it is, I have to take the shock off so I can have enough space to get the ratchet on the bolt.

I got it off, finally... I can now get the rear wheel off, so I can paint the rim!

For future reference I always have had better luck with a 10mm closed end wrench on Spree exhaust nuts, and PB Blaster works 100% Better than WD40!

Better than all those suggested is a 50/50 mixture of acetone and ATF. Spray or squirt it on every couple of hours over a 24 hour period. The nuts will come loose. FYI this stuff works better than any commercial product.
