not all post are meant for people the can afford to by a bbk or gears and a lot of them have never seen a motor broke down .. i no that the spree is a simple motor with its belt drive im trying to showing the people who have never broke one down that with some simple hand tools and time.. what 20 doller ..you can get more speed out of it ..ill bet that you started working with help next to you or you were a gofer (gofer a wrench or bolt or pop or beer or go clean this) for some one in his gradage.. dad granddad who ever and you ask a lot of question like what is this ..as time went on you got skills and new what parts are and do .. we get ask a lot of what i think dum question but when i read them i rember gofer for a rench....

this is a dremel tungsten carbide tip if you dont have a dremel get on and this tool as well im not new to porting at all this will help alot.... BUT 1st play with it on some scrap metal to get used to it....... as far as the link ill let spreetard take care of that im pretty sure hes been reading right along.......

this one has worked the best for us it gives u a smooth consistant cut if you know how to use it on both the case bore intake and exhaust....

Just like you said, and a GREAT point:

there are many Spree owners that are members on the forum, (and probably alot of "lurkers" that aren't even members) that do not have the moneys to spend on a BBK / gears / modification parts - and I think that you just motivated and taught them where to begin with porting their Sprees to get some more power.

i did the intake manifold , reed valves and my restricturd so i did not have to up jet the carb but im running a after market air filter with on tape no it and some photo of them.. i put it to gather and the person that dose the hard work ((translates my dyslexia to English )) has not got back to me ..

Well *, next time I'm riding mine, I'll take a pic of the speedo. I have a stock 84 Spree that get's over 30mph. And I weigh 260+ a backpack full of books. I get over 30 with nothing done to my spree.

This is a pic of the speedo on Ol' Red. On flat ground. With no wind. On the gps, it went 42.6mph. If the incremental numbering pattern of the spreedometer were to continue to where the needle is pointing, the spreedometer would be giving a reading of around 50mph.

This is why claims of speed are often harshly dismissed, as there are very few true 40mph Sprees. There are plenty of Sprees that will register such numbers on the ridiculously inaccurate spreedometer though.

This engine was an nq50 and had no aftermarket parts, only modified factory bits.

It helps that I started with an '87 spree, which went 32mph on a good day when it was completely stock. Which registered as 36mph on the spreedo.
On the flipside, The '84/'85 spree needs a little warming over before it will venture north of the 30mph mark.
I love to see people tuning the humble nq engine instead of chanting the motor swap mantra on every post. I really enjoyed tuning my stock engine, and learned a lot from it. And got a lot of people into scootering with it.
