My aero 80cc pitbike has been running like crap since I got it because the idle adjuster screw is stripped and stuck all the way in. I found this carb online and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this:

I like this one because of the manual choke, and the electric one currently on my aero is busted. Getting tired of sticking my hand in the airbox to start the bike every morning at the track.
Also, I will be doing a compression check soon but if the compression is low where can I get some rebuild parts if needed (this is my first 2 stroke scooter). Seems to smoke a little and has almost no power, but im assuming its because of the air/fuel being off. Thanks in advance.

Nope, wrong mounting bolt hole spacing. The Aero 80 is 43 mm. That carb is 49 mm.

I got lucky and found one on Flea-bay. I also found an 18 mm PB series carb with an electric bystarter that has the right bolt pattern. You just have to keep looking. What actually is wrong with this carb that you think you have to replace it? Or do you just want a bigger carb?

In my garage if you are looking for an OEM carb.strgt wrote:Ok thanks, where can I find a replacement carb for my aero?
The Honda dealer still has piston rings available. You will have to pull your head first to see if it has been bored out in the past though. Have you been adding oil to the oil reservoir?strgt wrote:... If you need a piston, flea-bay United Kingdom has them show up fairly regularly.eliteguy50 wrote:In my garage if you are looking for an OEM carb.strgt wrote:Ok thanks, where can I find a replacement carb for my aero? The Honda dealer still has piston rings available. The other option is Wiseco Pistons.
The European catalog for Wiseco pistons (an after market supplier) lists their 1984 Honda CR80R piston as being suitable for a "Lead 80" scooter. The Aero has almost a 1 inch wide boost port; substantially more than the total .820 inch spacing on the 1984 CR80 piston. The earlier CR80 (1983 model # 493) Wiseco piston has almost an inch between the pins so its the one to use. They come in sizes from 49.5 mm to 51.5 mm and Wiseco pistons should be available through your local motorcycle dealer or from Wiseco online. After buying the piston, visit your local machine shop who can bored the cylinder to match the piston. Get rings and a wrist pin also.
