That is how I used to do it until I realized locking the wheel at 9k is probably not so good for engine parts. I don't need anymore stripped cranks or bent rods.

Never ever lock the wheels, front or rear will braking. It is a good what to get hurt or killed.

Especially if you are a kid at home and the old man sees the marks you left in the yard.

i agree with everything said, but wouldn't the fact of a centrifugal clutch make this problem non existant? What im saying is, when the engine is off, the clutch is pulled back in by the springs on the clutch, because there is nothing forcing them out because the engine is off.
im not sure if im saying this correctly to make sense. but it's like trying to bump start a moped, it's impossible to do because the clutch isn't extended. Am I correct?
If it don't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

the clutch stays engaged to a certain rpm then it closes. on stock clutch springs, thats around 3800rpm. on a spree it might be lower around 3200rpm.
Nothing like getting stroked!

Right, because the clutch is already engaged from riding top speed, it will not disengage until you drop below those RPM's or the force is released from the lock up.

AH! that makes perfect sense. so basically you could put the brakes on quick to get it from about 32 with a regular moped, down to say 15 that should get it low enough to disengage for a more accurate reading. as long as you're not in traffic.

Why would you go somewhere with traffic to do a plug chop?

That's the joke.
