Airbox for Civic-Minded Hooliganism

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

I've pulled the trigger on this hi-buck airbox. With shipping it's high-buck, anyway. Yikes!

Since nobody has been able to tell me how much if any performance decrement (if any) to expect, I decided to see for meself. There is the possibility that the power can increase at certaini RPMs if the resonant-harmonic-frequency thingy works on the intake side as well as the exhaust. I imagine I'll need a size or two smaller (for a given carb) on the jets, although the intake holes on this one are pretty big. Still not as wide-open as the UNI pod. I'll be putting it on as an assembly with the new 26mm carb and report.

I'm tempted to get one too. I really can't stand the whine of the intake.

Whine and Dandy

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

All the really cool kids in Hawai'i say they run these for performance, too. I don't mind the whine, but I have a feeling the neighbors do. I have to ride out of the Casa Wheelman Complex at oh-dark-thirty every morning, on a cold and sputtery engine at that.

you will be running pretty small jets with that air box. pilot will be about a 45or48 and the main 112 or 115 maybe even smaller.

Wheelman,

Looks to be a clone of the Motoforce airbox, except with cool RED inlets.

I had a Motoforce airbox a while back but never really experimented with it to know if it helped performance.

I still would like to find a new-condition DDX airbox (& if I could find one when I have the $300+ to buy one)

If you look up "kart airbox" on ebay you will find a ton of different ones. You woul dhave to figure out the size you are looking for but it should be alot cheaper than the one you just dropped the hammer on. When we used to race 2 smoke kt100 engines we used these to adjust air flow for better acceleration by plugging one of the holes with your palm to richen the mix. They have been around for a long time.
