funny cold start
Hi I just purchased an 87 spree. It runs good, but on cold starts it will start with the electric start run for about ten seconds go to a higher idle then stall. Then it won't start with the electric start but if you kick it a few times, it starts and does the same thing about four or five times, then it will idle and run. Any ideas to fix this?
Re: funny cold start
Sounds like your bysatrter is shutting off early.

Re: funny cold start
can it be adjusted or does it need to be replaced?
Re: funny cold start
Bystarters have no adjusrment. They either work or they don't. The needle extends when power is applied, is how they work. I just had one that was stuck extended. Still the one on my Spree is operating fine 25 years later.

Re: funny cold start
Always a smart thing to do when you have problems like this. Also a word of warning, that idle jet has clogged on me after 3 weeks without riding so its good you've gotten familiar with it.veithouse wrote:this problem was the the slow jet in the carb. pulled it and cleaned it. problem solved.
