Ah, thanks for the heads up. Yes, there is a smoke ring near the base of the porcelain.

Cold compression: 135
Warm compression: 131-132
Fuel to oil: 32:1

I defiantly got better coloration with the 142 main and 58 idle. I didn't have to adjust the a/f screw with the new idle size... The motor reved up and down smoothly with the A/F about 1.75 turns out.

The grounding strap has good color but the porcelain is still white. According to my chop chart ...

Here is the most recent attempt with a BR8HSA plug and a 140 main. Im not sure if I am not stopping fast enough or what but im not getting much coloration out of these either.

you have to use a new plug when doing plug chops.if not your going to get a false reading.that plug is to hot for a bbk. run a cooler 8 plug.

How long do you run the new plug in the engine before doing the chop? I've noticed that a mile run (down and back) isn't good enough to get good coloration ...

It's the same plug with different jetting and a BR6HSA plug. The pictures for the 140 were taken around dusk so it does look darker. The brown coloring is a bit more uniform through the top and sides of the ground on the 140.

No belt today but I did a few plug chops. I think the 140 chop looks a little better than the 142. I am going to try the 138 tomorrow. Engine temps with both jets was around 350.

What do you guys think?

I was going to do plug chops today but the weather had other plans apparently. The new belt should be in tomorrow and the weather forecast is clear

drop your jetting to 138.......

with the Contessa, we ran 40:1 with the 28oko and a 52pilot and 132 main. That may have been a tad lean, but you should be able to run 140 or 138 without issue.

I plan on doing plug chops a little later on. I guess I am confused why chaining the jetting a few ...

Yep, Just over 8 turns of the clutch bell.

I will have to admit Trafficjamz I was a little disappointed on my first test ride. I took off the restrictor and put in 9g weights to make sure there was enough weight to shift. However, I felt no improvement in speed while riding.... And then I figured out why.

My apologies... I did not consider that the restrictor plate. Merely, the part the holds the ramp plate in place. My thoughts were mis-confirmed when I saw this. Perhaps Fishman was telling me not to use it?

This picture shows the vari boss inside the vari with the ramp plate pushed all the way back. There is about a 1/16 inch gap from the top of the boss to the top of the vari. Over all length of the boss is 1 and 5/16 inches.
